The Walk: Fitness Tracker Game App Reviews

If you like staring at your phone while you walk this apps for you. All of the audio must be manually played during your walk. Also all the items you encounter must be manually picked up by touching the screen while you walk.

I am enjoying the story & its good to have some more motivation to walk. I usually wait until the end of an episode to listen to the audio-- otherwise Id be looking at my phone a lot and thats not convenient when Im walking.

I love Zombies Run, but I consume episodes faster than they put them out so I decided to try their other app. But, it requires you to be constantly looking at your screen while you walk which is not only stupid but unsafe. It doesnt play your music. It doesnt even play the audio clips on its own, you have to watch for when a track is unlocked and tap it yourself. You have to watch the screen for hidden things to unlock and opportunities to take a different mission path too, which reduces the usability to zero. How could the same studio be responsible for both apps? Its like theyve forgotten everything theyve ever learned from Zombies Run...

You have to walk to hear what happens next. I can dig it.

However, the performance is really spotty. Since I know you update things very infrequently, I suspect I’ll have to live with this. The app freezes and then unfreezes. It doesn’t recognize minutes walked and then it does. It says you’ve got 23 hours left for a challenge and then the next minute it says the walk is done. Frustrating but usable and the story continues so I’ll consider these all just challenges set up by the Burn.

I really liked the idea of this app but thats where it ends. It freezes constantly so you cant accomplish anything. If its not frozen its force closing. Too bad. Could be fun

I love this app, I work in the health field so I walk a lot. its fun to have a little game along with for the game and I listen the awesome story at the end of the day. The challenges are a nice way to break up the story. I only wish theyd make one based in America

Not at all what I expected. Waste of money.

The trick to keeping the app from resetting your episodes is tapping on the amount walked in the upper left before anything else whenever you open the app. That allows the app to suddenly remember where you are. The app still crashes periodically if multiple apps are open in the background. Still the story is good enough that I keep playing despite the problems with the app. I enjoy it. It gets me moving.

This app is fun and motivating! I like the story, and the Zombies, Run Easter eggs are fun to watch out for! I dont think Ive had any of the issues others have mentioned. I love this little health app!

I dislike having I have the app open at all times, and having to press a button to make the next audio clip run. Even while walking, I dont want to have to keep looking down at my phone! Its distracting and unsafe!

I really wanted to love this app. As a fan of other six to start apps I assumed it would be good. However, this is easily the most buggy/laggy app I have ever used on an apple device. If I check another app and come back, it often loses my progress and takes me back to the start screen. The story line is the only thing this app has right at the moment. There needs to be A LOT more development for this to be a reliable and enjoyable user experience.

I had a lot of interest in this app but it has been a big disappointment. The app itself is ridiculously slow on my iPhone 6 — Im talking 2-3 second delays between tapping on something and actually getting a response. Even if this were fixed, this game is basically a bad, short audio book for which you have manually play each paragraph. I feel ripped off.

Motivates me to take my dog for a walk more than his sad face.

I am obsessed with this app! As a lover of all things Scotland, I found this lovely little thing right after a trip to the UK and just as I retired as a school administrator. I now have the time to walk, and this app makes me go the extra mile just to hear the next sound bite. Yes, it can be glitchy, and twice Ive had to repeat an episode in order to move on, but who cares? Im walking my *****ss off, and Im already worried about what Ill do when its over!

This app was a great motivator, I bow to the creative genius of Naomi Alderman and Six to Start! There are things I wish were different (automatically playing the audio, not having to be looking at and tapping on my device to find the landscape features so as to be able to keep walking). But the story and concept are amazing and Im proud to have completed the mission! Highly recommend to folks who need a little extra incentive to get that constitutional walk in.

This is a fairly weak app as far as urging one to excercise. Sort of boring. And what is the point of clicking on the squares and other pieces of stuff. None r tied to the story. Or dont seem to be. And the interface is sloppy and slow. Try to scroll up or down and theres a terrible wait (on my iPhone 6). I wouldnt buy this again.

I was looking for an app that tells the story while walking without me having to mess with my phone the whole time touching to listen to sound bytes and to "pick up" stuff. I wish it was more like the zombie apps from the same group. Also I had to delete the app because I couldnt make it stop running in the background despite changing settings. It was overheating my phone and draining the battery within a couple hours. Wish I could get my money back. Worthless!

Support for this app is frustratingly nonexistent. When you upgrade your phone then you lose all progress. If you are a month or two in to the story the support team tells you to continue using your old phone. The crappy thing is that the developers have solved this for their other apps like Zombies Run. For some reason they just dont care about supporting this app. Exceptionally lazy support for what is really a very nice app.

This app is horrible. It doesnt play and the pointer doesnt move even after Ive walked 5 minutes. Waste
